• Air cooled by evaporating water without adding humidity
• Water consumption equivalent to traditional systems
• Available today for installation

DENVER, Colorado — August 31, 2009 — Coolerado Corporation, a manufacturer of high-efficiency, clean-tech air conditioners, announced a new central air conditioner sized for homes smaller than 1,500 square feet. The new system, called the M30, uses under 450 watts of power, less energy than what most homes without air conditioning use for portable, ceiling or whole house fans. Photographs of the M30 are available at http://www.coolerado.com/news/media-use/.

This new model will debut at the Governors’ Global Climate Summit 2 in Los Angeles, California, on September 30th and is available for installation now through Coolerado’s dealer network.

Coolerado customer, Eric Doub, founder of Ecofutures, and owner of a Zero Net Energy (ZNE) home he built for his family in Boulder, Colorado in 2005. “The first summer we opened windows during the cool of the night, using fans to bring in the cool air. It worked ok, but it required a lot of discipline and effort,” said Doub. “When I discovered Coolerado and did the math, I realized we could have air conditioning for the same amount of power we were using for fans. We’ve had our Coolerado system for three seasons now and find it to be more comfortable than traditional air conditioning.”

The Coolerado air conditioner uses a breakthrough thermodynamic cycle called the Maisotsenko Cycle (M-Cycle) that capitalizes on natural, clean energy – psychrometric energy – found in our atmosphere. Coolerado air conditioners get their cooling power by evaporating water without adding humidity to the conditioned air entering the building. In arid climates, like the western United States, Coolerado systems cool buildings to similar temperatures as traditional air conditioning, but do so with fresh, filtered air. Although Coolerado systems consume water, conservationists are quick to point out the amount of water used to produce power for a traditional air conditioner is about the same as the amount of water used by a Coolerado system.

“Coolerado air conditioners are as efficient as using fans, so environmental advocates need to reconsider encouraging people to live without air conditioning,” said Rick Gillan, executive vice president at Coolerado. “Homes without air conditioning can mean more than just discomfort — higher temperatures promote inactivity, restlessness and disrupted sleep patterns. Higher temperatures in a commercial environment can result in lower sales and productivity, and can increase employee absenteeism and turnover.”

The Coolerado M30 is very versatile and can be installed almost anywhere, including the roof, attic, on the side of the home, or in the garage, crawlspace or basement. The M30 is also designed so that two or more units can be combined together to create a much larger system for bigger homes or businesses that require more cooling, but need a lower height unit.

Payback for Coolerado systems occurs within a few years through energy savings, utility rebates and tax incentives. Coolerado air conditioners are available for purchase through its distribution network which can be accessed by visiting http://www.coolerado.com/purchase/.
